El Patio De Albuquerque Part I

First, I would like to thank Shay and Lori for recommending El Patio De Albuquerque. On Saturday at 3:00 p.m., I went to El Patio De Albuquerque to review their restaurant. The address of El Patio De Albuquerque is 142 Harvard Dr. SE, and the phone number is 268-4245. When I arrived, I waited less than a minute to be seat. The waiter asked if I preferred to eat outside on their porch or inside their restaurant. I told him that I would like to eat inside their restaurant. The waiter sat me at a table inside their establishment. I look over the menu and there was a good amount of dishes to choice from in the restaurant. I asked the waiter which are the most popular dishes in their restaurant, and the waiter told me three of their most popular dishes. The most popular dish at this restaurant is the green chili chicken enchiladas, which costs $8.35. The second most popular dish at this restaurant is the El Patio Combinacion, which cost $11.75. The third favorite dish is the stuffed sopapilla that costs $7.75. I decided to go with the El Patio Combinacion. This dish comes with two flat enchiladas, a chili relleno, and a taco. The side orders on this dish are potatoes, beans, and a sopapilla. You have your choice of red or green chili. I chose to have red chili in my dish and order their chips and salsa. My waiter placed the order and gave me the appetizer. The chips and salsa was a nice appetizer. The salsa had a good amount of flavor and a nice little spicy kick to it. My main dish took about 7 to 8 minutes to arrive at my table. The cheese was nicely melted on the enchiladas and the chili relleno. The enchiladas were hot and a little spicy. The chili relleno was soft, juicy, and had a good amount of cheese in the middle. The taco was crunchy and juicy. Finally, I tried the side orders. The sopapilla was soft, crusty, warm, and melts in your mouth. The potatoes were soft and had a good amount of flavor in it. The beans were nice and juicy. The meal was good. I enjoyed eating in this establishment. I give the restaurant 3 and half forks. The video that I have posted above will give you a better view of my meal and the atmosphere of the restaurant. Hopefully this Tuesday, I will interview the son of the owner. Please tell me your own experiences at El Patio De Albuquerque.

  2. El Patio sounds wonderful, Victor. I've been thinking about my impressions of New Mexican cuisine, specifically salsas, and my quite extensive experiences with Mexican cuisine from Mexico City, Guadalajara, Puebla, and Oaxaca (I lived in Mexico for some years). What I most enjoy about Mexico's salsas is that you never do you get the same thing--not even at the same restaurant. It seems that each day's salsa and each restaurant's salsa is made up on the spot that very day. So you're always in for a surprise. I do love salsa picosa in all its endless variants. But I've always had a hard time distinguishing among the New Mexican green chiles--chile verde. What is called green chile in NM always tastes the same to me. I'm sure I'm wrong or uneducated about this matter--so maybe you can help. Do restaurants here claim "best" green chile? Can you tell the difference between a really fine green chile and a mediocre one? Where should I go to sample the best and where for the more run-of-the-mill?

  3. Comment Analysis of “New Mexican Taste Buds”

It seems that Victor’s blog is one where there is no end to recommendations and queries. It is true what Matt said, “everyone loves food”, especially when it is New Mexican. I read through the posts and comments on his blog over the past weeks, which was not hard because I was the most dominant commenter. Here are some directions I’ve formulated from the comments.

    1. Stick with the New Mexican food. People are interested in it, and there are plenty of options.
    2. Don’t be afraid to criticize. Be a little more critical, especially if you are going to assign fork assessments. If you don’t say something negative, followers may lose interest or not take your review as valid.
    3. Explore more than just the service, timing, and taste. The descriptions are excellent, but I think many people go to restaurants for the feel and atmosphere they create.
    4. Keep your pics and videos by you. This shows a type of intimacy and separates you from any other review site.
Overall, Victor has done a great job in following up on people’s requests. He is allowing the followers to shape his site.

  4. I am SO happy you reviewed it and liked it! I almost always get the green chili enchiladas, I love that the green chili is so hot it makes your lips tingle! The potatoes are great too. Thanks for going to this resturant, I'm not from abq, but this is definatly my favorite. I mean I have had some not-as-good-as-before meals here but I have always had a better experience here than at Sadies, or Los Quaties, or El Pinto (I can't spell to save my life, no judgement!)
